What is BIOBANQUES ?
The BIOBANQUES infrastructure is dedicated to biomedical research, in particular in the fields of biomarker development and translational medicine.
It is a distributed infrastructure that builds on a landscape of 85 biobanks located all over France including disease-oriented studies and population-based cohorts.
In addition, 10 health-oriented micro-organism BRCs (mBRCs) and 5 diseases networks are partners of the project. The network covers the whole spectrum of human diseases with more than 600 ongoing biological and clinical research programmes, including 45 follow-up prospective studies of population with 300,000 individuals included.
The BIOBANQUES infrastructure aims to:
a. Foster and support national and international research consortia
b. Encourage innovative technologies
c. Contribute to the development of public-private partnerships
d. Improve academic and industry’s access to biological resources at national and European levels
c. Meet reserachers needs.
